The Future Sound of Slovakia
Vol.1

#nowave #electro-rock #indiedance

“The Future Sound of Slovakia Vol. 1” is a sonic journey through the folk songbook of various Slovak regions, reinterpreted with a unique perspective. The project emerged in 2021 during the pandemic, giving life to a demo-album entirely created using virtual instruments. Four years later, this work evolves into deeper versions, exploring genres such as no wave, electro-rock, indie dance, and downtempo.

The voices of Petřa Valentová, Dominika Vitková, and Alica Heregová (members of the national ballet Lúčnica) intertwine with contributions from other musicians of Slovak, Argentine, Peruvian, French, English, Romanian, and New Zealand origins. An intergenerational dream team that includes Abello Cepero Travaglini (ukulele), Andrei Mărginean (soundscapes), Andrew Gibson (electric guitar), Benito Malacalza (ronroco, Andean flutes, tarka, sikus), Daniel Inger (accordion), Germán Estrella(fretless bass), Igor Babiak (balafón), Jakub Pišek (digital ozembuch), Kate Farquhar (trumpet), Katka Lahová (backing vocals), Matthias Moreno (drums and Moog), Miloš Kondač (guitar), and Cristian Estrella (keyboards, percussion, acoustic guitar, virtual instruments, and programming).

Mira Tus Manos

is the DJ project of Cristian Estrella, the Argentine musician and producer based in Europe since 2015. The core of his sets, which he has performed in Slovakia, France, Argentina, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, revolves around Latin American and Slovak folklore, interacting with beats ranging from downtempo to techno, including cumbia and experimental rhythms.

Looking at one’s hands is, at the same time, a practice used in “lucid dreaming” (a technique to become aware within dreams). The writer Carlos Castaneda describes that this way, it is possible to stabilize the dream experience and explore other planes of reality.
